Legal information
Privacy Policy
This page explains how Dave's Hot Chicken Academy handles personal information from visitors of daveshotchickens.website. It covers what we collect, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and the choices you have. It is written as a plain reference, not as marketing copy.
Questions about a request you already sent? Reach us Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, or Saturday, 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
What this policy covers
This privacy policy applies to everything served from daveshotchickens.website, including the course pages, the free recipe pages, the heat level reference, the pricing pages, and any message you send through our contact form or by email. It does not cover third-party sites we link to, and it does not cover a payment provider's own checkout pages once you leave our site.
When you browse the site or write to us, you are sharing information with Dave's Hot Chicken Academy. We keep that exchange narrow: we ask for what we need to answer you, process a course purchase, or keep the site working, and nothing more.
Information we collect
There are three situations where information reaches us: you write to us, you buy course access, or you simply read the site. Each one collects a different amount, and we list them separately so you know which applies to you.
If a field is not needed for the step you are taking, we do not ask for it. We do not run background checks, we do not buy contact lists, and we do not build profiles from browsing habits.
When you send a message
We receive the name, email address, and any text you type into the contact form, plus the date the message arrived. We use it to reply and to keep a record of the conversation in case you write again about the same question.
When you buy course access
A purchase records your name, email address, the tier you selected, and a payment reference. Card numbers are handled by the payment provider and do not pass through or sit on our systems. We keep the order record so we can restore access, answer a billing question, or issue a receipt.
When you browse the site
The server logs the pages you open, the time, your browser type, and a shortened network address. We use this to spot broken pages and to see which course pages or recipe pages readers actually use. We do not attach these logs to your name.
How we use it and what we never do
Every piece of information we hold has one of four jobs. If a new use appears later, we will describe it on this page before we start.
What we do
- Answer the message you sent and follow up if the reply bounces.
- Deliver course access, send a receipt, and handle a refund request.
- Keep the site running, fix errors, and measure which lessons get used.
- Meet tax and accounting duties that apply to a course sale.
What we do not do
- We do not sell, rent, or trade your details to another business.
- We do not add you to a mailing list just because you asked a question.
- We do not collect card numbers on our own servers.
- We do not use your message to build an advertising profile.
Sharing, retention, and cookies
We share information only with the services that make the site work: the company that hosts the site, the payment provider that takes a course payment, and the email service that delivers our replies. Each one sees only what its job requires, and each one is bound by its own agreement to keep it private. We do not hand your details to a marketing partner.
Contact messages are kept for two years so we can pick up a conversation you return to. Order records are kept for as long as tax and accounting rules require. Server logs are kept for a shorter window and then deleted. When a retention window closes, the record is removed rather than archived indefinitely.
The site uses a small number of cookies to keep a session working and to remember a preference you set. Cookies are described in full on the Cookie Policy page, including how to clear them in your browser.
How long we keep things
-
Contact messages
Two years from the last reply in the thread.
-
Course orders
As long as tax and accounting rules require for the sale.
-
Server logs
A short window for troubleshooting, then deleted.
Your choices and rights
You can ask what information we hold about you, ask for a copy, ask for a correction, or ask us to delete it. You can also ask us to stop using your details for a particular purpose. Write to us at [email protected] or call +1-615-555-0192 and we will walk you through the request.
We answer most requests within a few working days. If we need more time because the request is complicated, we will tell you why and when to expect a reply. A request to delete an order record may be limited by the accounting rules mentioned above; we will explain what we can and cannot remove.
If you are unhappy with how we handled a request, tell us first so we can fix it. You also have the right to raise the matter with the data protection authority that covers your area.
Privacy questions, answered
The questions we hear most often about data on this site. If yours is not here, write to us and we will add the answer.
Do I have to give my details to read the recipe pages?
No. The free recipe pages and the heat level reference are open without an account. We only receive information when you send a message or buy course access.
Will you email me course offers after I contact you?
No. A message through the contact form gets a reply and nothing else. If you want to hear about new lessons or a discount, you opt in separately and you can opt out at any time.
Where does my card information go when I buy a course?
To the payment provider that processes the order. Card numbers never reach our servers. We see a payment reference and the tier you bought, which is what we need to restore access or answer a billing question.
How do I ask for a copy of my information?
Email [email protected] from the address you used with us, or call +1-615-555-0192 during business hours. We may ask one confirming question so we do not send your information to the wrong person.
Changes to this policy
When something in this policy changes, we update the text on this page and note the date below. A change that affects how we handle course orders or contact messages is worth reading again, so we keep the wording plain and the list of what changed short.
